Over more than twenty years of direct observation in creative education practice, across Japan, the United States and Australia, Hisae Sophia Dias began to notice a pattern that repeated itself across children, contexts and years. Working closely within real creative development, that pattern gradually became impossible to ignore.
Creative development is where this pattern first became visible to her, not where its scope ends. What she observed pointed toward something broader, a structure that appeared to hold for how development unfolds in other areas of human life, in organisations and in wider systems.
These observations became the foundation for The Nine Discoveries. Sophia continues to develop this work today through her writing, her educational practice, and its wider applications.
